How to energetically take up space
Listen to the full episode below
When a listener wrote in asking me to explain what it means to "energetically taking up space" I knew it needed it’s own episode. What does it really mean to reclaim your power, energetically? We find out in today’s episode, while also exploring:
the difference between physical and energetic space
why some people have a "larger-than-life" presence
the impact of emotions on energy fields
why we may shrink our energy fields and lessen the space we take up
shifting our frequency to love and compassion
What does it mean to energetically take up space?
Thinking about space, let’s first start with how many different spaces we occupy. Remember, we have four bodies:
physical
mental
emotional
spiritual or energetic
Taking up physical space is easy to imagine. We know our physical dimensions like size, height and weight. Our physical body takes up tangible space.
In my household, there are four people and a dog — so then, we could also think about the physical space each family member takes up, perhaps not just their body, but the number of items and objects individual members may leave around the home at any given point. Of course, the physical space we occupy could also be our home, it could be our office, it could be the stuff of our life that is also taking up space. Granted, the idea of physical space isn’t too far of a stretch, but what about the energetic space we take up?
Your energetic presence occupies space
Ever met someone you might describe as “larger than life”? Maybe there is someone whose presence, their smile, their energy, lights up a room. I love the phrase “your reputation precedes you”, which also means your energy has arrived before you physically have.
In these examples, there’s a sense their aura, their presence, their energy is making an impact or taking up space, even without their physical presence.
Some people, whether they are consciously aware of it or not, occupy a great deal of energetic space. I'm not necessarily talking to the people that sort of live rent-free in your own mind, but instead, the way I'm inviting you to think about this is the person who might enter a room and suddenly they haven't said anything. They're not necessarily large in stature, but you feel their presence. They're energetically taking up space.
How to energetically take up space
Visualise Your Energy Field: While sitting in your space, bring awareness to your energy field. Imagine it expanding to fill the room you are in.
Expand Beyond Physical Boundaries: Extend your energy field to occupy the entire home, office, or even a building. Practice visualising your energy spreading beyond physical limits.
Engage in Conscious Expansion: Actively practice expanding your energy field by imagining it reaching the corners of the room and beyond, into neighbouring spaces or streets.
Practice Regularly: Incorporate this practice into your routine to understand how much space your energy can occupy and how long you can maintain it.
Adjust Frequency: As you expand your energy field, focus on radiating positive frequencies like love, compassion, and acceptance. This helps ensure that your expanded energy field is beneficial and harmonious.
Manage Your Energy Field: Be aware of how your energy interacts with others. Strengthen your energy field through clearing, healing, and maintaining a high vibrational set point.
Use Meditation and Visualisation: In guided meditations or personal practice, use visualisations to help expand and fortify your energy field, enhancing your overall presence and impact.
“When you take up energetic space and do so consciously, be aware of how much space your energy field is occupying and the frequency you’re transmitting.”
