How to unblock creative energy

In this episode

Want to unblock your creativity? What exactly is creative energy and where does that creative flow come from?

In this episode we explore the flow of creative energy and tips to clear creative energy blocks. There is a three week energy cycle as this episode goes to air, but you can work with this episode anytime you need to unleash your creativity.

Tune in to explore:

  • The creativity cycle and the natural ebb and flow of the creative process.

  • Clearing creative blocks through self-expression, playfulness, and creative curiosity and exploration.

  • Harnessing the creative energy during this energy portal, which offers an opportunity to generate new ideas, explore creative pursuits, and indulge in activities that bring joy.

  • The importance of letting go of old ideas, projects, and dreams that may be hindering the creative process to make space for new creative energy to emerge.

A Creative Energy Portal

For the next three weeks, from mid-November to mid-December, creativity takes centre stage, offering an unique opportunity to focus on expression, exploration, and joy. This period isn’t only for artists or those in traditionally creative fields; it’s an opportunity for everyone to rediscover fresh ways of thinking, creating, and seeing the world.

Although the energy is heightened at this specific moment in time, we can also use these same tips at anytime to awaken our creativity and unblock our creative self expression.

Week 1: Awakening Creativity

Mid-November, and this energy of creativity, invites us to tune into what “being creative” truly means. It goes beyond traditional artistic pursuits—creativity here is about generating new ideas and tapping into our imagination for problem-solving, self-expression, and visioning.

Our inner artist awakens when we allow ourselves to dream, imagine, and create something uniquely ours. Creativity, after all, is as essential for the soul as food is for the body.

To work with this energy, ask yourself:

  • What (or where) needs to be reimagined in your life?

  • Are there new approaches or novel ideas you’ve yet to explore?

  • If you could bring a creative solution to your life right now, where would you bring it and what would it be?

Creativity is not just about artistic creation. It’s about creative expression, creative thinking and the creation of something new.

Week 2: Indulge in Creativity

The last week of November calls us to indulge at a very deep level by engaging in creative pursuits—creative for the sheer enjoyement of it.

Creativity doesn’t need to be productive, or about an output or end product. What would you create for the sheer joy it brings? Here, we get to nourish ourselves by engaging in activities that bring lightness and joy.

Use this phase of the energy forecast to creatively play without judgment, whether that means cooking, dancing, or simply daydreaming.

Allow your True Self to indulge in:

  • Trying new things, even if it’s approaching your daily routine with a sense of new. For example, try cooking new recipes or bringing playfulness to your evening meal.

  • Dancing or singing freely, just for fun, and just see what happens when you lose the judgement and play.

  • Creative projects that may have been left on the back burner, or need a new perspective or fresh approach.

Week 3: Revisit and Reignite Old Creative Dreams

By the third week of this energy portal, in the first week of December, consider revisiting projects or ideas that may have been set aside. It’s the perfect time to evaluate where you are in the creative cycle. Are you nurturing the seed of a new idea? Or is there a creative endeavor that may be ready for completion?

Working with this energy:

  • Clear away any projects that may no longer serve you

  • Refresh ideas that still resonate and give them new life

  • Ask yourself: “What if you allowed lightness and play to bring fresh energy into old dreams?”

Cycles of creativity mean that what goes around comes around—projects that felt they didn’t bloom or had failed may come back to life.

Tips to Harness Creative Energy Cycle

Create Space for Creativity

This cycle is a reminder that creativity needs space—physically, mental, emotionally and energetically. Even if you can’t completely clear your calendar for three weeks (who can?!) at least aim for a little time each day. A few minutes focused on creating and playing will all add up.

With even a few minutes, you could try:

  • Experimenting with a creative journal or visual diary.

  • Wear bright or different colours or styles, or that help express what’s on your heart.

  • Listen to music that lifts your mood, or sing lyrics that express what you may be struggling to convey.

  • Step out of your normal routine. Try taking a different route to work or trying a new workout location or activity.

Tune Into Your Inner Rhythm

Creativity (and this energy cycle itself) is closely linked with the sacral chakra, which is an energy centre affected by creativity and intuition (among other things) and the throat chakra (which is about expression). Focus on balancing all your chakras, but particularly these two over the specific energy portal to help transform ideas into reality.

This three-week cycle is a powerful time to explore the joy of creating purely for the love of it. Whether you are taking on a new project, revitalising an old one, or simply enjoying the process, embrace this time as an invitation to reconnect with what inspires you. Just for the sheer joy of it.

The benefits of nurturing creativity now will be felt long after these weeks pass—so dive in, play, and let your imagination soar!
